Manaslu and Tsum Valley Trek

The Manaslu trek offers one of the rare opportunities to explore an unspoiled trekking destination that circles the world’s eighth-highest mountain, Mt. Manaslu (8,163m). In addition, there is the Tsum Valley trek, which opened to outside trekkers in 2008 as an extended version of the Manaslu Circuit. On this trek, trekkers can experience unique Tibetan-influenced culture and pristine natural beauty. At least two trekkers are required for the trekking permit as this region is considered a restricted area within the Manaslu Conservation Area Project.

The Manaslu trek starts in a low and narrow valley called Machhikhola and follows the Budhi Gandaki River, passing through rhododendron and pine forests. The Manaslu and Tsum Valley regions are rich in Tibetan culture and tradition and trekkers can see several prayer flags, Mani walls, and stupas along the trail, along with wildlife and towering snowcapped mountains. The highlights of this region include Pyungyeng Monastery, Manaslu Base Camp, and Larke La (pass 5,106m), among others. After crossing Larke La, trekkers enter another world-famous trekking destination, the Annapurna Circuit.
